My husband and I fit the theory of “opposites attract.” He is a night owl, and I’m an early bird. I love food and enjoy cooking. He considers food as a means of survival and tries to stay away from the kitchen.
Thus, I was thrilled when, after he retired from church ministry, he offered to make pancakes for us. Imagine my surprise when I first tasted the flapjacks he made. It was so good—dusty blond, fluffy, not too sweet, and super-delicious.
As usual, when I praised him, he shrugged. “Oh, I’m just following an online recipe with a bit of my own twist.”
Here is the online recipe he follows.
What about his personal twist? I asked, but he gave me a wink. “Cooking is an art. My impromptu is different every time I make it.”
