Pastor Ken
Besides physical toys, many people nowadays play with virtual toys. Electronic games and other cyber activities serve the same purpose. However, whether it is a physical or virtual toy, we must first have a full understanding of what real life is. As human beings, we have certain responsibilities to ourselves and to the society. Only after fulfilling those responsibilities, then we can turn to leisure activities. Even those activities must stay within moral boundaries set by our faith system. We should never pursue personal pleasure at the expense of nature and other creatures. When we buy toys, we must also consider the distribution of human resources and wealth. Toys that soothe our emotions and help us express ourselves are good, but they shouldn’t be extravagant. We must always consider the needs of others, so as not to waste unnecessary resources on showy, over-the-top toys or indulge in excessive pleasure.
